Kinzig Valley Cycle Route

 - from Freudenstadt to Offenburg through the Kinzig Valley

Pleasure cycling for recreational cyclists and for the entire family is guaranteed on the Kinzig Valley bike path that crosses the Black Forest from east to west.

The 95 km long path which is synonymous for pure recreation crosses several beautiful villages and towns. It starts at Freudenstadt train station 750 m ASL and leads downhill till the mouth near Offenburg 150 m ASL. The Kinzig Valley gets flatter and wider from Alpirsbach where the river gently flows. It gets only tougher in the side valleys with their temptations (60 Km) or on alternative tracks (30 km).

36 maps, 90 main signposts and 1,300 intermediate signposts are to be found along the Kinzig Valley bike path that passes through three districts and 24 municipalities. Half of the amount invested (approximately EUR 100,000) was financed by subventions from the Middle/Northern Black Forest Natural Park that also guarantees that the path network follows environmentally friendly goals. Return is possible by the Ortenau suburban train. A practical flyer contains a list of all places situated alongside the path with their sights as well as useful addresses.
